with great news (over and above the whole "finished edits" thing, that is)!

I have been playing with character art things and now I have CHARACTER ART to share with you!

I bought these most excellent character builder sets off artist Elen Bushe on Etsy and I've been having wayyyyy too much hyperfocused rabbit-hole fun making the characters from my books.

Y'all, I think my eyes are permanently heart-shaped because would you just look at this character art of Gus & Mary!?

And to give you the first look at some of the juicy character deets (do the kids today still say "deets"? Probably not), here's a little more about each of them!

Mary is your snarky, jaded boss babe with a semi-permanent scowl. She doesn't take any shit, she likes to run the show (in more ways than one 🥵), and she likes to keep to herself, thankyouverymuch.

(Gee, I wonder how that will work out for her???)

I love how this character art of Mary turned out—especially that I could give her a sweet feminist T-shirt and a bunch of tattoos! I love that she's grumpy and curvy and obviously none too pleased to see that dumbass Gus Shepherd rolling into her shop.

Gus, on the other hand... He's Mr. Reliable, and the family man vibes just pulse from his big ol' heart, especially around his favorite time of year. Christmas is the best season around, as far as he's concerned and, let's just say Mary doesn't exactly share his holiday joy.

Look at that 'stache, people! And the Christmas sweater?? Ugh, I love him and his cautious shifty eyes, probably trying to figure out why he can't stop thinking about Mary for some unknown reason.

She's hot, Gus, ya goof!

Well, I'd better wrap this up, because "finished edits" is actually code for "now get your marketing ass in gear".

(Side note: are edits EVER TRULY FINISHED? Whatever, the book is with my editor and I don't have to poke at it for a little bit and that's what I'm going with!)
